WASHINGTON, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Small Business in Transportation Coalition ("SBTC") 501(c)(6) national trucking trade association, operating through Truckers.com, SmallTransportation.org &TruckerVote.com, today published its 2026 Trucker Voter Guide & Congressional Scorecard in advance of the November 3rd, 2026 mid-term elections in the United States on October 20, 2026. Members of Congress are rated on a scale of "A++" to "F-" regarding their policy positions on such issues of concern as "English Language Proficiency" and illegal issuance of CDLs by state governments to illegal immigrant truckers. Factored in, is the members' acceptance of PAC donations from big 3PL freight brokerages and autonomous vehicle manufacturers, whose interests do not align with those of the SBTC and its 21,000 member companies and drivers...
Notably, Representative Dave Taylor (R; OH) scored the highest ("(w)orked with SBTC & Sponsored SBTC's Connor's Law & Commercial Motor Vehicle English Proficiency Act; co-sponsor of Dalilah's Law") with an "A++," while Representative Rick Larsen (D; WA) was rated "F-" ("(a)ccepted TIA & autonomous AUVSI PAC money; voted against Dalilah's/Connor's Law; not tough on Illegal Immigrants").
SBTC's Executive Director James Lamb today stated: "The purpose of our Voter Guide & Congressional Scorecard is to empower trucker voters as they engage in early voting by absentee ballot or prepare to head to the polls on November 3rd. We seek to arm them with valuable information and facts about candidates' voting records, attendance stats, and their willingness to accept PAC money from our powerful and influential adversaries. We are positioning our Congressional Report Card to punish members of Congress who engage in 'pay-to-play' decision-making rather than merit-based public policymaking. While big corporations may have money to offer politicians in Congress, in the end, we have 3.5 million truckers in America and they vote."
SBTC's Trucker Vote Facebook page is dedicated to helping truck drivers and small trucking, broker, and bus company business owners register to vote and learn about the voting records of incumbents who are up for re-election in November. SBTC has adopted Willie Nelson's "VOTE 'EM OUT" song as the organization's battle cry and call to action to remove members of Congress who do not advocate for American truckers and small business owners and protect and promote motor carrier safety, their financial interests and look out for their jobs.
SBTC is seeking Congressional sponsors to introduce its freight broker accountability bill. Congressional staffers interested in discussing the SBTC's broker-related legislative proposal, which would turn the current 49 CFR 371.3 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's freight broker rate transparency into an enforceable Federal Law, among other things, should reach out to SBTC's attorney and lobbyist Laurence L. Socci, Esq. via [email protected].
