In a move to advance the rapid growth of its direct-to-consumer OTT app, Syncbak today announced the hire of broadcast industry veteran Ron Stitt to serve as Head of Product for SBTV. In his role, Stitt will oversee the strategy and roadmap for the SBTV consumer interface as well as evolve MarketSync, the company’s content marketplace for live and on-demand channels.
As the market-leader in over-the-top (OTT) television, Syncbak powers over 10 million hours of live streaming annually to popular viewer destinations such as CBS All Access, Hulu, fuboTV, Sony, the NFL and more. With the launch of SBTV in May, stations can now expand their audience to a national footprint that includes out-of-market viewers. Paired with AdSync, the company’s proprietary DAI platform, broadcasters and content owners can monetize their content on Syncbak’s platform by attracting brands eager to reach targeted, local audiences. SBTV is growing rapidly, reaching over 28 million households in the US, a figure expected to double in the next six months.
“I’ve known Ron for a long time, and there’s no better person to lead our effort on SBTV,” said Jack Perry, Founder and CEO of Syncbak. “Ron’s success in digital at both ABC and Fox demonstrate his knowledge and leadership in the space. He is innovative and has an ability to see and execute against strategic opportunities to advance us forward.”
Prior to joining Syncbak, Stitt led the digital media launches and achievement of profitability of the O&O station groups for both Disney/ABC and 21st Century Fox. Under his leadership, Fox was the first major TV group to embrace mobile responsive design. Called “one of broadcast’s most forward-thinking digital leaders” by industry trade publication TVNewsCheck, Ron has a passion for strategy and business development.
“I've always thrived at the inflection point of big new opportunities, so Syncbak and SBTV are a perfect fit,” said Stitt. “If SBTV did not exist to enable local TV to compete with the FAANG giants, the strategists in the industry would have to invent it. Fortunately, they don't have to - we're ready to go.”
Syncbak is the leader in OTT solutions, powering more than 10 million hours of live local broadcasts on OTT destinations like CBS All Access, Hulu, fuboTV, Sony, Amazon, the NFL, and more. Syncbak’s technology currently reaches 99 percent of the US population across 208 markets, representing 99 station groups and all major networks, including CBS, ABC, FOX, NBC, and the CW.
Syncbak recently expanded its platform with the launch of SBTV. SBTV leverages Syncbak’s industry-leading live stream platform, SimpleSync, and its proprietary live DAI technology, AdSync, to deliver free, hyper-local content to viewers anytime, anywhere. The company was founded in 2009 and has offices in Cedar Rapids, IA and New York, NY.
