Scaled Agile Launches SAFe® for Government Course with SAFe® Government Practitioner Certification
BOULDER, Colo. (PRWEB) December 11, 2018 -- Scaled Agile, Inc., provider of SAFe®, the world’s leading framework for enterprise agility, has announced its latest course, SAFe® for Government with SAFe® for Government Practitioner certification. The two-day course provides a comprehensive overview of Lean-Agile and DevOps principles and practices within SAFe and helps attendees plan and execute a Lean-Agile transformation of a program inside a government agency. Registration information and dates are available here.
Digital transformation, globalization, citizen expectations for instant access to information and services, shrinking budgets, demands for greater accountability in government spending, increased cyber threats, and antiquated legacy systems are just some big factors driving the need for change in the public sector. While government agencies rely on technology to solve challenges like these, traditional approaches to developing and sustaining new technologies have proven to be inadequate for 21st-century solutions. In fact, a recent report from the Defense Science Board (a task force of the Department of Defense) recommends that the military adopt an iterative, Agile approach to acquiring software.
The Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe) provides proven integrated practices, competencies, and strategies to help government agencies move away from traditional software and systems development models to Lean-Agile and DevOps mindsets, principles, and practices. Version 4.6 of SAFe provides specific recommendations that align with this new era of innovation in government—some of which come directly from guidance authored by federal agencies including the U.S. Government Accountability Office, General Services Administration, Office of Management and Budget, and Office of Federal Procurement Policy.
“With the SAFe® for Government course, we’ve adapted SAFe to the unique needs of the public sector to help generate better results for stakeholders, including taxpayers, contractors, and military personnel,” said Dr. Steve Mayner, SAFe Fellow and Principal Consultant at Scaled Agile. “While transformation can be especially challenging in government, agencies can overcome issues of legacy governance, contracting, and organizational barriers with the right information and strategies.”
In the SAFe® for Government course, attendees will learn how to apply proven, integrated practices and competencies and adopt Lean, Agile, and DevOps in the government context. They’ll also understand how to align programs to agency strategy, Lean budgeting, forecasting, estimating, contracting, governance, and compliance. By gaining a solid understanding of the Lean-Agile mindset, attendees will discover why it’s essential to transformation, and learn how specific leadership behaviors can drive successful organizational change—even in government. “While SAFe is already being deployed successfully in government agencies around the world, this new course will accelerate Lean-Agile adoption within the public sector,” said Dean Leffingwell, creator of SAFe and Chief Methodologist. “The net result will be better software and systems for the agencies themselves, for defense and peacekeeping forces, and better and more cost-efficient services, safety, and security for taxpayers across the globe."
The course will prepare attendees for the SAFe® 4 Government Practitioner certification exam. Attendees will also receive a one-year membership to the SAFe Community Platform.
With the addition of SAFe® for Government with SAFe® 4 Government Practitioner certification, Scaled Agile’s portfolio now includes 10 professional credentials designed to meet the needs of Lean-Agile professionals throughout their career as they practice, consult, or train others in SAFe.
