Schafer Corporation Awarded Contract to Support DARPA/US Navy Long Range Anti-Ship Missile Deployment Office
ARLINGTON, Va. (PRWEB) June 23, 2015 -- Schafer Corporation, a leading provider of scientific, engineering and technical services and products in the national security sector, is pleased to announce it has been awarded a five-year contract for $23.5 million to provide system development support and technical and operational integration support to the joint Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)/US Navy Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) Deployment Office (LDO). Schafer has been working with DARPA for 26 years, and has supported the LRASM program since 2008.
Schafer will assist the LDO with advanced weapons system development, planning and platform integration, as well as programmatic expertise in the acquisition, testing and deployment of LRASM. The LRASM weapon system has already demonstrated its superior capabilities under DARPA’s management. Based on these successes, LRASM is being pursued as an urgent operational requirement. The LRASM program is beginning to transition from DARPA to the US Navy.
“Schafer takes great pride in our role in helping LRASM achieve the success that has been demonstrated and we look forward to continuing to work with DARPA, the US Navy and the US Air Force as the capability moves toward operational deployment,” said Denise Kellogg, Schafer’s Vice President for Science & Technology.
Schafer’s mission is to help its customers meet and exceed goals and objectives with integrity, innovation, agility, teamwork and a commitment to excellence. These attributes are a hallmark of the service offering to Schafer’s longtime partners such as DARPA. Schafer looks to continue to build upon its reputation as a high-end SETA provider.
