Science After Dark Doubles the Astronomy at the Science Museum of Virginia
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) May 05, 2015 -- The Science Museum of Virginia is shining a spotlight on nanoscience during Science After Dark: Honey, I Shrunk the Science! For one special evening, the Museum will showcase back-to-back all-live astronomy presentations, special nanoscience activities and an exclusive viewing of the 1989 classic, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.
Guests step into The Dome, home to Virginia’s largest movie screen, to check out the smallest planets in the Solar System. The Museum’s resident astronomer, Justin Bartel, will take guests through the cosmos to explore dwarf planets (we haven’t forgotten you, Pluto!) at 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm. After the sun sets, stargaze through telescopes with members of the Richmond Astronomical Society on the front lawn.
This month’s Science After Dark explores the nano-scale, measured at one-billionth of a meter, with hands-on activities that demonstrate how big an impact these miniscule particles make on our daily lives. Play with magic sand, check out ferrous fluid and learn how nanoscience has led to innovations in science and technology.
Travel across the universe, through three floors of interactive exhibits and even back in time with a showing of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids at 8:30 pm. Science After Dark brings an astronomy-packed evening with a quirky science twist for guests of all ages.
Science After Dark is an evening event held on the third Friday of the month at the Science Museum of Virginia. Science After Dark admission is $5 or free for members.
