Science Education Companies Partner to Award Grant to Simi Valley, California Teacher
Cheyenne, Wyoming (PRWEB) August 17, 2016 -- Each month of the year, a science teacher and enthusiast from around the United States receives an investment in their ability to inspire the next generation of biologists, ecologists, and science minded individuals. It all began as a modest grant by Wyoming based Owl Brand Discovery Kits, a retailer of sterilized barn owl pellets since 1996.
"It's exciting to be a part of solutions in classrooms when it comes to making hands on science an affordable reality," comments Owl Brand President, Chris Anderson. "We've been really fortunate to consider giving a profound part of our business plan and have made many friends because of it."
The July recipient Teri Landy commented in her application, "With science it really only comes together with the hands on experiments. The biggest obstacle is that I do not have enough money to buy a lot of the tools."
That's why Anderson invited two companies that he's been in business with for well over more a decade. Neither Wards Natural Science or Nature-Watch hesitated to get involved. He shares, "Wards & Nature-Watch were both excited to get on board, matching our grant and invigorating it with our customers, many of whom we share. It's real community building and a big part of our company philosophy. But that's secondary to the ability to help a teacher motivate students through getting their hands on our products."
Teri Landy echoes that sentiment, "Owl pellets bring the lesson to life. I can show videos, but it does not replace taking apart the owl pellet and talking about the circle of life and how it works. It is so exciting for the students. My students were so excited to begin. There was so much conversation and excitement."
