LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SCOSCHE – (pronounced skōsh/skohsh) Industries, a leading innovator of award-winning consumer technology, powersports and car audio products and accessories and the #1 Mount Brand* congratulates the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) on its development of the new Qi2 universal wireless charging standard.
Qi2 (pronounced 'Chee two') is designed to increase wireless charging efficiency and to provide a better user experience for consumers worldwide. A key consideration is that Qi2 wireless chargers will provide universal compatibility, and will work with all wireless charging-enabled devices to quickly and efficiently charge them at up to 15W. This should, in turn, reduce the number of wireless chargers needed, especially by households with both Apple and Android devices, and consequently significantly reduce eWaste.
The Magnetic Power Profile (MPP), which is key to the new standard, was provided by WPC member Apple, and is based on their MagSafe® magnetic wireless charging technology. The circle of magnets built into MagSafe and Qi2 chargers holds the device in place and perfectly aligns the charging coil to deliver faster, more efficient wireless charging.
The new standard, which will be released later in 2023, will replace the existing Qi standard, and Qi2 wireless chargers will be available to consumers for the 2023 holiday season.
The WPC will be previewing the new technology and discussing the standard in Booth #53529 at the Venetian Expo at the 2023 International CES. As a member of the WPC, Scosche will be debuting its prototype BaseCharge MS 3-in-1 Charging Stand with removable Power Bank (shown above), which includes wireless charging, at the WPC Booth.
