HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (PRWEB) October 16, 2017
The Sea Pines Resort will host a four-course wine dinner with fourth generation Napa Valley winemaker Rob Mondavi Jr. Nov. 14 in the Heritage Room of the new Harbour Town Clubhouse.
Three selections of wine from Mondavi’s family vineyard in the Stag’s Leap district of Napa Valley will be paired with the evening’s cuisine created by The Sea Pines Resort Executive Chef Matthew Roher. The culinary event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Lady’ Island oyster bar reception, followed by the seated dinner.
To start the meal, Chef Roher will prepare Parmigiano custard to be served with Mondavi’s 2015 Emblem Carneros Chardonnay. The second course is roasted local sweet potato bisque accompanied by another Mondavi selection – 2015 Animo Heritage Sauvignon Blanc – produced from To Kalon Vineyard vine cuttings, believed to be the oldest surviving sauvignon blanc material in North America.
For the main course, guests will enjoy filet Rossini with foie gras torchon, duck fat brioche and a white truffle potato puree, served with 2013 M by Michael Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon. The dinner will finish with warm toffee pudding.
Mondavi, son of Isabel and Michael Mondavi, grew up among the vines and barrels at Robert Mondavi Winery. He learned the craft of blending, tasting and vineyard processes under the direction of awardwinning winemaker Geneviève Janssens and the company’s winemaking and viticulture teams. In 2012, he took over the winemaking leadership of Michael Mondavi Family Estate, a vineyard high on Atlas Peak. Today, his wines represent a new generation, balancing green farming in the vineyards and modern wine making in the cellar.
Cost of the dinner is $125 per person, plus tax and gratuity. To make a reservation, call (843) 363-8380.
