Hosted in one of San Rafael's oldest and most cherished neighborhoods, Gerstle Park, PorchFest is expected to fill the streets with attendees coming to enjoy to dozens of musical acts playing on porches throughout the neighborhood. It will encompass a six-block area west of D St., from San Rafael Ave. down to Ross St. The event will also take over the historic Gerstle Park, which features picnic areas, a playground, and a basketball court, and will serve as an additional stage for the event.
Attendees can fuel up and cool down with gourmet food trucks or bring a picnic lunch to enjoy while kids play at Gerstle Park. A New Orleans Marching brass band will open the event, and a diverse set of artists are set to play, including: folk, Americana, Scottish fiddlers, gospel, soul, gypsy jazz, blues, Latin, funk, traditional Argentine tango, and children's music.

About San Rafael PorchFest
Inspired by the Napa Porchfest, a long-time San Rafael resident, Tom Obletz, spearheaded the movement to bring the event to San Rafael. In mid-2018 he pulled together a crew of like-minded individuals, including the Gerstle Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA), and San Rafael held its inaugural PorchFest in September 2018. The community was buzzing with excitement and pride and decided to make it an annual event. Today, the GPNA takes the lead on hosting the event, with lots of community involvement from people in Gerstle Park and throughout San Rafael.
Originally conceived in Ithaca, NY, in 2007, PorchFest is a nationwide phenomenon. It's an all-volunteer, family-friendly, free event that brings communities together to celebrate music and creativity. True to the spirit of PorchFest, all performers play at the event for free. There are more than 60 other PorchFests in the U.S. and Canada.
