WESTBOROUGH, Mass., June 27, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Security Engineered Machinery Co., Inc. (SEM), global leader in high security information end-of-life solutions, is pleased to introduce that Crystal Lindquist has joined the SEM team as a machinist.
Lindquist is a current senior at Assabet Valley Technical High School and has been interning with SEM since her second semester of this year and is the second student to be hired at SEM post-internship. Before her internship at SEM, Lindquist gained experience working at Lincoln Hoist Precision Machining, Co. in Grafton, MA, a position she has held since July 2021.
"Over my tenure at SEM, we have had several co-op students complete their internships with us," says Bill Bradford, SEM Senior Technical Manager. "However, Crystal is by far the most advanced co-op student we have ever had. We are ecstatic to have her as part of our machining team."
Lindquist's skillset ranges from CNC mill and lathe programming, and laser engraving to blueprint reading and utilizing various CAD/CAM software, including Mastercam and SolidWorks. In addition, Lindquist has obtained her OSHA certification and has completed a SkillsUSA Career Essentials curriculum.
Every year, SkillsUSA chapters across the country host a National Signing Day for high school seniors and college/postsecondary students pursuing a career in any of the skilled trades. This annual event is to highlight and recognize students as they commit themselves to a career and encourages business partners, future employers, school administrators, and more to attend and support students when signing their "letter of intent" for a job offer, apprenticeship, or advanced training.
SEM Senior Technical Manager Bill Bradford, who will be Lindquist's supervisor, attended Assabet's National Signing Day ceremony on May 4, 2023, as shown below.
"One thing that greatly impressed me about Crystal is her willingness to ask questions and the fact that she is always dedicated to staying busy," continues Bradford. "I never have to worry about if she has enough work to do because, while shy, she wants to learn and is always looking for new projects to work on."
Miss Lindquist will be working out of the company's corporate headquarters in Westborough, MA.
