Security Compass Sponsors iHack Capture-the-Flag Contest on May 30th
(PRWEB) May 26, 2015 -- On May 30, Security Compass, a leading web and mobile application security firm, is hosting a remote capture-the-flag hacking contest at its Toronto headquarters for all local area ethical hackers, IT security pros and technology aficionados who are interested in testing their skills against some of Canada’s top hackers.
The hacking contest, which runs from 6:00 pm ET May 30 to 2:00 am ET May 31 (location: Security Compass, 257 Adelaide Street West, Suite 500, Toronto ON, Canada, M5H 1X9) is the culmination of a three-day cybersecurity conference and training event in Quebec City known as iHack, which is organized by the founders of Hackfest.ca. As lead sponsor and partner of the event, Security Compass is providing the only remote location for contestants to participate in the capture-the-flag contest.

In the eight-hour capture-the-flag contest, contestants will be divided into four-person teams which will play the role of cybercriminal organizations trying to hack their way to fame and fortune. Each team will try to be the first to hack into several “companies” and steal their well-kept secrets, all the while evading network defenses and countermeasures. Breaking into these “companies” will involve a number of challenges, including knowing how to successfully use exploits, IP table bypasses and anti-forensics, as well as familiarity with multiple attack surfaces like web apps and WiFi.
Those interested should bring a laptop, power bar and UPS, a network switch and network cables. Since Toronto contestants will be participating remotely, they will not have access to certain challenges due to physical constraints.
