Security Industry Association Announces Denis R. Hebert Identity Management Scholarship Opportunity
Silver Spring, Md. (PRWEB) September 25, 2018 -- The Security Industry Association (SIA) is now accepting applications for the new Denis R. Hebert Identity Management Scholarship. Each year, this program will offer two $5,000 scholarships for security professionals specializing in the field of identity management.
The scholarship was named after Hebert, a member of SIA’s Board of Directors and former chairman of the board, serving as chair from 2016 to 2018. Scholarship recipients will be announced during SIA Honors Night on Wednesday, Nov. 14, in New York City.
“I am both proud and honored to be associated with this scholarship program,” said Hebert. “Identity management has become the critical foundation upon which our society is dependent, and it is imperative that we further our understanding of this domain in order to ensure the authenticity, authorization and privacy of individuals in a growing number of applications.”
Scholarship funds can be used toward completing associate’s and bachelor’s degree programs and/or professional development courses focused on identity management.
“We are thankful to Denis for his leadership and for helping SIA strengthen its service to members in the domain of identity management by developing many valuable education, government relations and standards initiatives,” said Don Erickson, SIA’s CEO. “SIA is proud to support security professionals in furthering their careers in this important field and looks forward to awarding the Hebert Scholarship for the first time.”
To apply, a candidate must have three to five years of professional experience in the security industry and be a full-time employee at a SIA membership company. Each candidate must have worked for their employer for at least one year at the time of the deadline and be in good standing with their organization.
The deadline to apply for the 2018 Denis R. Hebert Identity Management Scholarship is Oct. 31. Learn more about the program and apply on SIA’s website.
