Segal Trials Hosts Clinical Trial Awareness Event in Collaboration with CISCRP at a Major League Baseball Game
In an effort to raise clinical trial awareness and promote the importance of diversity in clinical trials, Segal Trials and The Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) co-hosted a clinical trial awareness event at a Major League Baseball arena.
MIAMI, Aug. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In an effort to raise clinical trial awareness and promote the importance of diversity in clinical trials, Segal Trials and The Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) co-hosted a clinical trial awareness event at a Major League Baseball arena. Staff, community partners, and patients alike came together to show support of Segal Trials' and CISCRP's mission to increase clinical trial awareness.
Segal Trials, a network of clinical research sites located in South Florida and South Carolina, chose to co-host this event with CISCRP to make a more impactful message.
CISCRP is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public and patients and to engaging critical stakeholders as partners in the clinical research process. One of the major barriers to clinical trial participation is the lack of available resources to help individuals make informed decisions. CISCRP provides a variety of award-winning and internationally recognized educational resources and programs to improve clinical research literacy and increase overall public awareness.
This clinical trial awareness event was particularly unique due to the high concentration of a diverse audience at the baseball arena. It is imperative that clinical trials study diverse patient populations to ensure that as many groups as possible are well-represented in life-enhancing and life-saving medical advances.
Segal Trials thanks one of their partners, a global biopharmaceutical company, for their assistance in sponsoring this event to help increase awareness of clinical trials while helping to reduce the stigma associated with clinical trial participation. Additionally, many of Segal Trials' community partners attended to show support and appreciation of their mission. One such partner was NAMI Broward County, whose Executive Director, Sandra Cumper, commented: "The negative stigma surrounding mental health presents a barrier to the utilization of mental health services.
