Senior Chairman Matthew B. Gorson Recognized as Silver Medallion Honoree by MCCJ
Matthew B. Gorson, senior chairman of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., was recognized as a 2023 Silver Medallion honoree at the annual MCCJ Humanitarian Dinner. The ceremony was held May 7 at the InterContinental Miami, with more than 400 business, political, religious, and other community leaders in attendance.

Gorson, senior chairman of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., was recognized as a 2023 Silver Medallion honoree at the annual MCCJ Humanitarian Dinner. The ceremony was held May 7 at the InterContinental Miami, with more than 400 business, political, religious, and other community leaders in attendance.
MCCJ has hosted the annual dinner since 1946 to honor outstanding community leaders who have helped to build a more welcoming, inclusive, just, and cooperative society. Greenberg Traurig was a presenting sponsor of the event.

As senior chairman of Greenberg Traurig, Gorson oversees the day-to-day operations of the firm's Southeast and California offices. He previously served as president and chairman. Gorson joined Greenberg Traurig in Miami in 1973 as the firm's 14th lawyer and became one of the most in-demand real estate attorneys in South Florida. His work over the last five decades has played a key role in revitalizing the urban landscape and in changing the skylines of downtown Miami, Brickell Avenue, Miami Beach, and Sunny Isles. As the former chair of Greenberg Traurig's Real Estate Practice, he was instrumental in developing the firm's reputation as a real estate powerhouse.
Gorson focuses much of his community involvement on organizations that support mentoring and education for young people from diverse communities. He is founder and chairman of the Downtown Miami Charter School and has served Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami as a board member since 2012, including two terms as chairman. He also is a former board member and campaign chairman of United Way of Miami-Dade and a former board member of the New World Symphony, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the City of Miami Downtown Development Authority, and the Jackson Hospital Foundation. He is a board emeritus member of Tulane University and founder of both Mt. Sinai Hospital and Baptist Hospital.
