Legal Specialization is a program identifying and certifying attorneys who have special competence in specific areas of practice. Certified last December, becoming a specialist involved very specific criterion. Kuffer had to have worked as a licensed New Mexico attorney full time for a minimum of five years, have continued legal education (CLE) in approved courses or programs dealing exclusively with family law, and shown her qualification through peer reviews with references from other attorneys and judges, all the while practicing and being substantially involved in the practice of family law.
