ORLANDO, Fla., May 28, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SEOHost.net, a leading domain registration, SSL service, and SEO hosting provider, has responded to Google analyst's recent suggestion that voice search optimization may end.
In January Google's Webmaster Trends Analyst Gary Ilyes tweeted the following in response to an article on Google's shift from text to image search: "It's a new year, maybe we can put the voice search optimization fad to sleep finally."
Many jumped on the tweet as proof that optimizing one's content for voice search is futile. SEOHost.Net COO Terry Cane admitted "voice SEO" is a buzzword but said, "conversational search is a very real thing."
"Many of Google's recent algorithm updates, BERT in particular, are geared towards helping the platform better understand conversational queries. As such, while there's no such thing as voice SEO, voice search is still changing search engine optimization," she said.
Conversational queries, according to Cane, are usually more concerned with answering a question or gathering information than anything else. Content geared towards conversational search should seek to answer those questions as succinctly as possible, making use of natural language in the process. Moreover, Cane recommends that webmasters shift their focus to long-tail keywords and Schema markup.
"Google has made no secret of the fact that it wants to focus more on intent rather than keyword matches," Cane noted. "A shift towards conversational and voice-based search is just one more step in that direction. Voice SEO may not exist, but conversational SEO does - and you'd do well to understand it before it becomes more prolific than it already has."
