San Francisco, California (PRWEB) November 27, 2014 -- Serious Buyer, Andrew Hawley from Vintage Rock posters, announces his search for vintage 1969 Jimi Hendrix Tuscaloosa Memorial Coliseum concert posters. Between 1969 and 1977 many of the leading rock bands played at the University of Alabama. Jimi Hendrix started the concert series on May 7, 1969. According to Hawley, “It started with Gary Weinberger who was a freshman at the University of Alabama and working at University Programs Council. The council was responsible for bringing music acts to the campus. Weinberger’s buddy Michael Tucks cold called Tony Ruffino who was promoting Jimi Hendrix at the time. Weinberger and Tuck explained to Ruffino that the University has a huge coliseum with great acoustics. It would be a great place for Hendrix to play. Ruffino agreed and the rest is history. Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, The Who, Jethro Tull, The Rolling Stones, Yes, The Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Neil Young, Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Band, Joni Mitchell, Grateful Dead, Linda Ronstadt, Eric Clapton played at Memorial Coliseum. Weinberger and Ruffino late become business partners and started New Era Production in 1986.”
Hawley continues, “The concert posters created for the Hendrix Concert were simple. They were printed locally. University of Alabama student volunteers would hang these posters up in music and book stores around town.
