Young Man Flourishes in Autism Spectrum Services Program

It is with great pride that ServiceSource Inc., a leading resource for people with disabilities, announces its 2018 “Employee of the Year.” This year’s recognition goes to a young man named Ricky, a dedicated stocker at Fort Belvoir North Post Exchange Express.

In an effort to overcome significant challenges faced in today’s competitive job market, Ricky came to ServiceSource to participate in the Autism Spectrum Services Program. With the support of ServiceSource’s Employment Development Specialists, and good old-fashioned peer camaraderie, Ricky was able to overcome his obstacles and find a job that brings a smile to his face every single day.

“My job has been a positive thing in my life because I am able to build a strong relationship with my co-workers and customers alike. I feel more comfortable with myself, and know that if I make a mistake, I can fix it. I’m also honored to serve in a store for military soldiers,” says Ricky.

Each year, ServiceSource helps thousands of people just like Ricky find their footing in life. Through networking, inclusive supports, nurturing relationships and partnerships, ServiceSource helps people with disabilities, as well as their families and caregivers, find their voice and gain the confidence they need to thrive independently.
Ricky says the coaching and support he received from ServiceSource’s Autism Spectrum Services Program has been invaluable.

“My job coaches have been huge supporters since Day One. They’ve helped me figure out a lot about myself like what jobs to apply for and how to prepare, and they’ve given me some great advice on how to improve on my tasks at work.”
