Sharper Development Solutions, Inc. helps high school juniors and seniors nationwide learn effective public speaking skills.

Year after year, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce calls upon leadership consultant Betty Parker of Sharper Development Solutions, Inc. to present techniques for effective public speaking to hundreds of student leaders. South Carolina Business Week is a collaborative effort between local executives and the Chamber with the goal of shaping the leadership skills of young people to prepare them for life in the corporate world. Parker teaches public speaking skills and communication techniques that she says will turn words into action.

As an entrepreneur whose area of expertise is leadership training and development in Columbia, South Carolina, Parker recognizes the skills gaps that occur in the workplace daily. Parker trains managers in small to large corporations on leadership skills with a focus on communications. Parker says the biggest pitfalls in communications are lack of clarity, poor verbal and written communications, inappropriate tone, and myriad issues that arise when communicating electronically.

“Unclear communication, gaping holes in the communication process, and poor quality communication are ruining relationships and revenues in businesses every day,” says Parker. “I believe that if we can start polishing the way young people communicate, especially in high school, then they can ultimately present themselves as valuable contributors to any business after graduation.”

South Carolina Business Week is held every July at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. For more information, please call (803) 622-4511 or email to betty(at)thesharpersolution(dot)com.
