They have such a wealth of knowledge and they remind you of times when life was so much simpler," says Katie Watters, Administrator. "They truly do make coming to work fun, and at the end of the day, rewarding."
SHEFFIELD, Iowa (PRWEB) November 30, 2018
When Katie Watters is asked why she loves Sheffield Care Center she is quick to answer "It is like one Big Family! Ruth stills plays the piano for church on Thursdays, Meta still leads the Bible Study. The longevity of the staff, the passion that they bring to their job…They care so much about the residents, their families & the well-being of The Sheffield Care Center. I hope the community sees that to. And feels welcomed every time they step foot in the door."
Sheffield Care Center welcomed Katie as the Administrator starting in October and she has been busy getting acquainted with the residents and staff. A Holiday Soup Supper will be hosted by Sheffield Care Center on December 5th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm for Katie to meet the community members. Everyone is invited to stop by for a great assortments of soups and meet Katie.
Residing in Rockwell with her husband Jake and two children, Bryer and Rilyn, she laughs as she tells others that she grew up in Allison and has not moved far. They live on an acreage where they share the rural life with 5 horses, 3 dogs, 16 chickens, a lonesome donkey and plenty of barn cats to go around.
Katie is a graduate of Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) where she earned her associates and then transferred to Iowa State University earning a Bachelor's in Child, Adult and Family Services, with an emphasis on Aging. She will begin her practicum in January and will then sit for her Long-Term Care Administrator boards in May.
"Some ask why did you chose Long-Term Care. I say Why Not? I have always had a strong passion for caring for older adults. They have such a wealth of knowledge and they remind you of times when life was so much simpler," says Katie. "They truly do make coming to work fun, and at the end of the day, rewarding."
When not at Sheffield Care Center or helping Jake with the farming and cattle, you can find the family enjoying time outdoors, at the lake, or with their families.
