Shiny Things Develops Innovative Math Education Applications With MyScript® Handwriting Recognition Technology
NANTES, FRANCE AND ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- Shiny Things, an education application developer, has incorporated MyScript® handwriting recognition technology into its award-winning math education apps including Quick Math, Quick Math+, and Quick Clocks.
Shiny Things creates age-appropriate education apps that are simple, engaging, and innovative. The Quick Math app is suited for children ages 6–12 and focuses on exercises for learning addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and mixed operations. It also allows learners to practice and improve handwriting skills. Quick Math+ expands the lessons to indices, negative numbers, and order of operations questions. It introduces new game modes to test memory, logic, estimation ability, and pattern recognition, making it a challenging step-up for players age 8+. Quick Clocks allows learners ages 6–12 to practice and develop their time-telling skills, promoting a concrete understanding of time. All of the apps provide individual feedback on progress with a focus on self-improvement.
The Quick Math apps have received several awards and recognition such as the Best of 2013 in the App Store; Best Apps for Kids from Geeks With Juniors; Top 100 App for Kids from Smart Apps for Special Needs; and Best Maths App of 2013 from Teachers With Apps.
Shiny Things leveraged the MyScript Math software development kit (SDK) to create the applications. MyScript Math enables the recognition of handwritten mathematical expressions and equations, and converts symbols and numbers to digital information in real-time. MyScript currently recognizes more than 200 mathematical symbols and characters.

Intended for children ages 8-11, Quick Fractions incorporates games based on equivalence, comparison, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It follows the same model as the other Quick apps allowing children to practice their skills and receive time-based feedback.
