Shirley Kennedy's Newly Released "How the Wooly Worm Tried to Stop Spring" is a Fun Story About a Little Worm's Grand Purpose
"How the Wooly Worm Tried to Stop Spring" from Christian Faith Publishing author Shirley Kennedy is a charming picture book about a winter-loving wooly worm who decides to eat all the flower and leaf buds to delay the spring, only to find himself changed after a long nap.
MEADVILLE, Pa., Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "How the Wooly Worm Tried to Stop Spring": a cute story of seasons and change, is the creation of published author Shirley Kennedy, a grandmother and member of Green Street Baptist Church in North Carolina where she has taught Sunday school for many years. She is retired, widowed, and loves spending time with family.
"During the fall of 2017, I walked out of the house and there on the walk way was a solid black wooly worm," Kennedy shares. "I was amazed at it and used my phone to take a picture of it. I had no physical contact with the wooly worm and assumed that it just crawled away.
"With my phone, I sent a picture of the wooly worm to one of my sisters. I have five sisters and one brother. The picture of the wooly worm was sent around to the others. Wooly worms have been used to predict the weather for the winter. Later, when the weather started to get cold, I started getting text from my sisters about the wooly worm. Jokingly, they said that it was my fault that the weather was bad. As the winter produced more snow and cold weather, I received more and more text and phone calls. We had a fun time with the wooly worm picture. I love my sisters and my brother, and we have always had a close relationship. We can have fun with anything, and I feel very blessed to have the family that I have.
"The wooly worm became such a fun time for our family, I did not want it to just get away. Sometimes, God puts people, animals, and even little wooly worms in our lives for a reason. I hope that you enjoy this little wooly worm story as much as I have enjoyed writing it."
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Shirley Kennedy's new book is an imaginative tale that teaches as it entertains.
