His intention with this new version is exclusively for the consumer. Bello previously developed the site in the hopes that both dealer and consumers would benefit, however the dealer presence in the market since COVID, pushed Bello into a "mindset reset" of consumer advocate. With this new edition comes two product announcements by Bello that further supports the consumer. Much like Carfax, Shop Smart Autos now provides the vehicle's history pulled by its VIN at a fraction of what its predecessor cost. In addition, CarFax was created to support the dealer, while Shop Smart Autos technology supports the consumer with all they need to know about a prospective purchase or lease for under four dollars. CarFax is currently at ten times the cost to the consumer. "The goal was not to take out CarFax, rather help the consumer get the information they need at a price that makes sense. Plus, we give them more information, as we are consumer based, not for the dealer." continued Bello
The second product that Bello launched with this new site is a natural language search that allows the consumer to relay the desired vehicle search information in a way that is conversational and expanded. Most searches work on key words or phrases that lock out some of the important details, and in some cases, the technology cannot read the message. As an example of one of the points is when a consumer types in things like $40k, the current technology most likely will not read that as $40,000. The other feature is that conversational searching allows the user to share other things about the vehicle they would like, such as the interior, wheels, systems, etc. that most searches do not allow. Instead of putting our shoppers in a box, we allow them to expand their desired search and find the dealer or private seller that best serves them." continued Bello.
Shop Smart Autos was founded in May 2019 and has evolved to an exclusive consumer focus to better support the industry overall. The intended result will be for consumers to find their desired vehicle and go to a dealer or private seller they feel best serves their need. Shop Smart Autos will not be charging dealers for the relationships built with his audience. His goal is to let the consumer make the decision after Shop Smart Autos provides all they need to do so.
