Winston-Salem, NC (PRWEB) February 03, 2014 -- Press 53 is proud to announce the signing of award-winning writer Taylor Brown’s debut short story collection, In the Season of Blood and Gold, due out May 2014.
Press 53 fiction editor Christine Norris says of In the Season of Blood and Gold: “Taylor Brown’s prose is stark but electric; it grabs you by the shoulders and the heart, and doesn’t let go. The signing of this collection is a cause for celebration for Press 53 and our readers.”
Taylor Brown, a resident of Wilmington, North Carolina, came to the attention of Press 53 after winning Second Prize in the Short Story category of the 2009 Press 53 Open Awards. Brown is also the winner of the Montana Prize in Fiction (2009) for his story “Rider.” Stories from this collection have been published in literary journals and magazines such as The Coachella Review, storySouth, The Bacon Review, New Guard, Porchlight, and many more.
Press 53 plans to launch In a Season of Blood and Gold on Saturday, May 3, at its headquarters at the Community Arts Café in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. “For the past few years,” says Press 53 publisher Kevin Morgan Watson, “we have celebrated National Press 53 Day on May 3, using it as an excuse to throw a party while we also launch a new short story collection. We’ll have another big celebration going on in San Diego with a launch party for What Happened Here, by award-winning author Bonnie ZoBell. Since May is designated as National Short Story Month, this is a great way to kick that off as well.”
Press 53 books are distributed throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia by Ingram and their partners, and are available wherever fine books are sold, including http://www.Press53.com.
