MIAMI, Oct. 7, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Mordor Intelligence predicts that the serverless computing market will register a CAGR of over 23.17% between 2021 and 2026 — thanks to advancements in technology that allow businesses to incorporate serverless environments. However, this approach carries some advantages and disadvantages and it's up to businesses whether or not they will adopt the technology.
DesignRush, a B2B marketplace connecting businesses with agencies, leveraged its 16,000-agencies-strong network for quick insights – or "QuickSights" – to ask the experts if businesses should adopt serverless computing.
1) FOR BETTER GO-TO-MARKET TIME & DEVELOPMENT COST
In the opinion of Aakash Goyal, designated partner at Cloudester, serverless computing carries various benefits including faster go-to-market time and lower development costs.
"The businesses that want to reduce their go-to-market time, app development cost and increase agility must opt for serverless computing," said Goya. "It helps them ensure easy scalability, more flexibility, an amazing user experience, and lastly a stress-free environment. It's a critical evolution for the future."
Murli Pawar, VP at TechnoScore agrees that serverless architecture helps reduce costs.
"Serverless computing is best known for provisioning server-side resources in real-time for uncertain peak loads and you are charged for what you use," said Pawar. "Unlike server-full architecture when developers should purchase an estimated server capacity in advance, whether used or not, businesses across the globe should opt for serverless computing to reduce costs."
QUALITANCE Chief Technology Officer Radu Dalbea shares the same opinion and adds that only businesses that have a good understanding of how serverless computing may impact large-scale architecture should use it.
"Though the concept of Serverless Computing has become a buzzword, don't get fooled by it. It's a very cool feature that can ease up your work, but you should only adopt it after a good understanding of how it may impact large-scale architecture," said Dalbea. "For sure, it will save you time and money because developers will skip the configuration part of the servers and you will only pay for the runtime of that service. However, I find it more suitable for specific tasks or microservices."
2) FOR FLEXIBLE LIGHTWEIGHT APPLICATIONS
As stated by Saranya Thirunavukkarasu, solution architect at GeoPITS, organizations should consider a serverless approach to develop flexible lightweight applications.
"Serverless computing is a boon when we try to build flexible lightweight applications," said Thirunavukkarasu. "Based on our experience, serverless architecture has been very useful in building microservices where we see inconsistent usage and times with very less traffic. In such scenarios, spinning up constantly running servers that are always available may be a waste of resources. So serverless architecture is beneficial when one understands when it should be put to use."
3) FOR AGILE DEVELOPMENT
LeeShanok Network Solutions Founder and President Eric LeeShanok claims that businesses that focus on agile development should rely on serverless computing.
"Serverless computing is great for businesses focusing on agile development, but it's not for everyone," said LeeShanok. "In our experience, finance and dev teams need to be on the same page. Costs will vary, sometimes by a lot. The benefits are lost when IT is tasked with providing detailed accounting to leadership."
