One day event offers public opportunity to visit homes while charities benefit

Barbara Bliss, franchise owner of Showhomes® North Shore-Barrington, announced today her home staging company will host an exclusive afternoon event on Sunday, June 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. to present to the public three residences rich with Lake Bluff and Lake Forest history. The event, Showhomes® Festival: Cooler By The Lake, will offer transportation via shuttle to all three properties, where guests will enjoy beverages and small bites with musical entertainment enhancing their visit to each home.

“This is the first time all three of these homes have been on the market at the same time, and each has a unique story. I’m excited to show the public three beautifully designed residences, all from a different era, from English Cotswold to turn-of-the-century Victorian to an awesome example of Classic Modernism right on the lake,” said Barb.

Barb also mentioned that she feels strongly about giving back to our community, and is an avid volunteer and supporter of many charities. She selected Roberti Community House’s Culinary Pathway Program and Bravo Waukegan as the lucky recipients of ninety-percent of the proceeds from the event.

“We are so excited to be in the Showhomes Festival and for the chance to share how families in Lake County are uplifted by the generosity of guests attending this event,” Maribeth Roberti, Founder and Executive Director of Roberti Community House, said. “By connecting with neighbors like the event goers, Roberti Community House can offer opportunities for our students of our Culinary Arts Pathway to grow, learn, and advance their skills. We thank all the Showhomes Festival attendees for learning about our organization; let’s continue encouraging the best in ourselves in our neighbors and our community.”

“We are thrilled to be selected as one of two non-profit organizations to receive proceeds from this event,” said Karey Walker, executive director of Lake Forest-based Bravo Waukegan. “At Bravo Waukegan, we are passionate about music and the essential role it plays in the developing minds of young people. We support music education in Waukegan public schools (District 60), and any proceeds we receive from this event will go toward funding our Bravo Buddies Summer Camp music program, which enables Waukegan students to receive individual music lessons and participate in music workshops and special fieldtrips.”

Online event registration is available at Guests 12 and older are welcome. Registration is $100 per person and includes shuttle transportation from Lake Bluff Middle School’s parking lot every 20 minutes to all 3 residences; beverages and lite fare; musical entertainment; access to historical docents; and full-color informational brochure received when boarding the shuttle. Showhomes® is a pioneer in home staging and the franchise continues as the leader in this fast growing industry. We began our business in 1986 with the concept of transforming vacant houses - often seen by buyers as stale, lifeless, or unappealing - into fully-furnished, inviting, valued Showhomes®. Barbara Bliss, franchise owner of the Showhomes® North Shore-Barrington Lake Forest office, opened its doors in 2005. She understands that for most people, the purchase or sale of a home represents the largest investment of a lifetime. Did you know that only 10% of people shopping for a new home have the vision to see their belongings in another house? Showhomes® home staging team brings a home to life and can be the key to creating an emotional connection in a potential buyer.

The Roberti Community House has been a safe place for kids, teens, adults, and seniors in and around Waukegan for many years. Our goal is to connect and empower members of our community by offering free, volunteer-run programs the community wants. For example, English practice, cooking classes, a walking club, crochet and sewing, health and nutrition programs. Our after-school program is a big hit with kids and continues in the summer with cooking and gardening programs. Everyone pitches in to find ways to give back to each other and community. We hold fun events like our Harvest party and Halloween celebration, holiday celebrations that bring old and new friends together. A free 9 week culinary training and placement program helps us launch adult students into careers and out of poverty. It also helps to feed the community by donating meals to shelters, veterans, soup kitchens, civil servants and much more!

Bravo Waukegan is a Lake Forest-based nonprofit organization that supports music education in Waukegan public schools (District 60). Bravo’s mission is to foster academic, artistic and personal growth by providing the highest quality resources to children who want to play music and to faculty who want to teach it. Bravo’s many programs provide new and donated instruments; music instruction during and after school and in the summer; as well as performance and teacher professional development opportunities. Bravo impacts 7,000 students through its programs each year. Additionally, during the past nine years, Bravo has donated more than 2,230 instruments valued at $289,000. Bravo also sponsors five mariachi after-school bands for elementary schools and the annual Waukegan Music Festival at the Genesee Theatre, where more than 1,000 students perform.
