A former partner at DLA Piper who spent his career representing broker-dealers, investment banks, private equity and venture capital funds, financial advisors, and corporate executives before the SEC, FINRA, and state regulators, Jake brings to every dispute a wide-angle view of how business disputes actually get resolved.
That regulatory fluency carries into his mediation practice, paired with thorough preparation and direct engagement with both sides of the table. Jake communicates with both parties well before the session starts, identifying the real gap between positions so the time spent at the table is fully dedicated to closing it. Having run a major brokerage office through the financial crisis of 2008, he also brings a sharp instinct for what a drawn-out dispute costs beyond legal fees.
Jake's path to the mediation table wound through maritime law, securities litigation, and a stint as general counsel for a financial firm with operations spanning Hong Kong and mainland China. He later returned to private practice, broadening his practice to include trust and estate work, employment disputes, and trade secret litigation, and spent his most recent years as a partner at DLA Piper.

Jake earned his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from Whittier Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Whittier Law Review and received the American Board of Trial Advocates Award. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Saint Michael's College
