Signature Gives Back 'A Hand Up' to South Florida's Showering Love
Real Estate Professionals from The Signature Real Estate Companies Join Those Experiencing Homelessness for first Showering Love event, "Kick Homelessness to the Curb."
BOCA RATON, Fla., July 31, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The day started with a robust rain shower. How appropriate for Showering Love's first event with Signature Gives Back, its Father's Day weekend event "Kick Homelessness to the Curb"! As the skies cleared, people came out to enjoy a perfect day of dignity and wellness. The two not-for-profits, Showering Love and Signature Gives Back (SGB), tendered showers, food, haircuts, toiletries and recreation, all meant to restore a sense of normalcy to the striking contrast of South Florida's homelessness dilemma.
"We are about giving a hand up, not a handout," says Founder of Showering Love, Jeanne Albaugh, herself a trauma and homelessness survivor. SGB Board of Directors' member, John Goss, Jr., was the driving force who urged Albaugh to share her personal experience at an SGB Committee meeting this past Spring. He and Event Co-Chair, Dana Levy, united the SGB volunteer group who offered empathy and additional community resources to event participants.
Following the event, on July 19, SGB awarded a donation of $1,500 to Showering Love, which will help the organization move into its second phase of service delivery to be called "Loads of Love," a mobile laundry unit that will join "Grace"; The latter is its fully fashioned bus, which has offered those experiencing homelessness a private shower for nearly two years.
The Signature Real Estate Companies (Signature) is one of a dozen real estate brokerage companies to have a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit with a mission "to inspire members of the real estate community to support various charities and worthwhile causes through selfless volunteerism and valuable financial contributions," says SGB Committee Co-Chair, Jack Jaiven. It has done so since 2013, when Founder Ben G. Schachter was inspired to strengthen Signature team members' commitment to community volunteerism and philanthropy.
SGB has experienced a domino effect since then, with its Board of Directors offering several grants primarily to local charities and causes. Signature's real estate professionals have fulfilled thousands of volunteer hours to address a variety of gaps in community care and raise these independent funds, all with the cohesive guidance of Jaiven and his SGB Committee Co-Chair, Wendy Pressner.
