SignatureCare Emergency Center Creates Online COVID-19 Evaluation Appointment Portal for ER Patients
In an effort to ease the long wait to get coronavirus evaluation, the 24-hour emergency room operator now allows patients to easily set up appointments online and get their COVID-19 evaluation done at their convenience
HOUSTON, July 15, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The surge in COVID-19 infections in Texas has created an urgent need for Texans to get evaluated for the coronavirus. This has resulted in long wait times at area emergency rooms and other community health centers.
To ease this burden on the community, SignatureCare Emergency Center, your friendly neighborhood Texas emergency room operator has initiated an online program that allows patients to get evaluated at a time of their choosing by setting up an online appointment.
The company created a COVID-19 online evaluation appointment portal for all of its 18 Texas emergency rooms.
The portal is easy to use. Simply go to the page, scroll down to the closest emergency room location and follow the prompts to set up your appointment, arrive a few minutes before your appointment time, and get your evaluation done.
"Our goal in setting up this appointment portal is to help the community. We see the long lines and we know that is not sustainable so this portal is designed to ease that burden," said Dr. Hashibul Hannan, a board-certified emergency medicine physician and managing partner at SignatureCare Emergency Center.
"With this portal, there is no longer any need for anyone to wait for hours to get their COVID-19 evaluation done. You can get your evaluation at a time most convenient for you and your family," Dr. Hannan said.
Dr. Hannan continued that while SignatureCare Emergency Center is required to evaluate everyone who walks into the ER for COVID-19, he advised patients not showing symptoms to not set up an appointment online.
Symptomatic patients can always come into the ER and register to be evaluated.
"While we are required to evaluate everyone that comes in for an evaluation, we are requesting that if you do not have symptoms or any reason to suspect exposure to COVID-19, please do not sign-up for any appointments using the online form. Give those folks that do have symptoms and are sick the opportunity to sign-up. You can always come in to our ERs and register to be evaluated without a registration fee for your emergencies on-site," he added.
SignatureCare Emergency Center offers the 15-minute Antigen test, Antibody test and Molecular (PCR) test in all of its emergency rooms.
Antigen tests are nasal swab tests and results are usually available within 15 minutes while results for the Antibody and Molecular (PCR) tests are available through LabCorp in 48-72 hours.
