On Friday, May 12th, three associate Rabbis were installed to lead Shabbat and weeknight services for Sim Shalom Online Synagogue.
NEW YORK, May 19, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Sim Shalom Online Synagogue continues to grow and on Friday, May 12th installed three new Rabbis who will be leading services. Sim Shalom was developed and dedicated to broadcast services online directly to congregants in 2010 long before covid. Attendees who joined Rabbi Blane from around the world could always chat with one another and him but the introduction of other platforms allows them to now see and talk directly to each other. They like to say they can attend services from home in their PJs What could be a warmer vibe? The addition and installation of three additional clergy who bring a refreshed take and vibrancy to the thriving Friday night Shabbat services.
Rabbis RuthE Levy of Georgia, Shoshana "Shush" Carson of Tennessee and Shari Berman of Hawaii and Japan were installed online before the Sim Shalom congregation. All were trained under Rabbi Steve Blane at the Jewish Spiritual Leaders' Institute (JSLI).
Rabbi Shari Joy Berman is a Special Associate Professor at the Hirosaki University Graduate School of Medicine in Northern Japan. Shari has been teaching English, writing, editing, and translating from Japanese to English for over 40 years.
A lay leader since January 2007, and Rabbi since last year, these days she honors Shabbat in various ways in two US times zones and in her own in Japan.
Berman will be leading Friday night Shabbat Services for Sim Shalom and reading Torah which she excels at. She joined the installation service from Japan, where it was 2am.
Rabbi Shoshana "Shush" Carson is a California native, who has lived in East Tennessee for the last 24+ years. She has served as a cantorial soloist for various congregations in California and Tennessee for over 30 years.
Shush is currently the Director for Family Religious Life at Heska Amuna, a Conservative Synagogue in Knoxville where she is the Education Director and leads bi-weekly Shabbat morning services for the congregation.
She and her husband David have three children and four grandchildren. She will be leading Shabbat and weeknight services for Sim Shalom.
Rabbi RuthE (RuthEllen) was born in Orange County, California. RuthE entered the US Air Force in which she served for 12 years at duty stations around the world.
She has been a Jewish educator and Spiritual Leader ever since.
In 2007, an opportunity developed to start a Jewish book store, and RuthE began her Jewish book business. Since that time, she has expanded and moved the business to Roswell, GA, where it is still operating.
RuthE is married to husband David and they have five sons and 6 grandchildren and reside in Marietta, GA. She will be leading weeknight services for Sim Shalom.
