NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Given the current pandemic, Sim Shalom Online Synagogue, already versed in virtual services, is moving it's High Holiday services online as well. Rabbi Steve Blane, joined by Special Guests and a trio (socially distanced) will provide joyful Jazz inspired musical services once again.
Sim Shalom's High Holiday season of services begins Friday night, September 11 with a Selichot service. Participants will join Blane online- ask questions, sing along and say many of the prayers with the added benefit of viewing from the comfort of home in PJ's, safe with family and friends. This will be a New Year to remember!
Rabbi Blane will be joined by special guests, Cantors Denise Heitmann (RI) and Joanna Lind (IL). Cantor Joanna P. Lind descends from Belzer Hasidim of Eastern Europe. Upon ordination through JSLI, she became the sixth generation Lind family cantor. Currently, Cantor Lind performs life cycle events independently and is the cantor for Ahavat Olam, a small congregation led by Rabbi Cantor Nancy Landsman, also a JSLI graduate.
After being ordained as a Cantor this past June, through Jewish Spiritual Leaders Institute (JSLI), Cantor Heitmann continues to sing and daven with two conservative synagogues in RI. Over the past three years, Denise has been the co-spiritual leader of the pluralistic prayer group, Hayom, providing High Holiday services to those not affiliated with a synagogue and looking for a progressive community.

No fly on the wall watching but true engagement with Rabbi Steve and others. These High Holidays will follow that same design providing accessible and COVID friendly services.
