OAKLAND, Calif., Oct. 6, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Skyloom, the telecommunications company building the orbital infrastructure for fiberless communications, today announced the hire of Campbell Marshall as Chief Operating Officer. With his deep experience in the space communications industry and an extensive background in finance, government, and defense, Marshall will focus on scaling the company's operations and accelerating key partnerships as it establishes itself as a trusted player in the growth of the trillion dollar space economy.
By 2030, billions of terabytes of data will need to be transmitted to, across, and from space. Skyloom provides fiberless optical communications at the speed of business. The company's planetary-scale solutions for ultra high-bandwidth communications unlock secure, high-capacity data transport for satellite-to-satellite, satellite-to-earth, and earth-to-satellite transmissions.
Skyloom is already working with the U.S. Space Force's Space Development Agency (SDA), and the company recently announced a collaboration with Space Compass, a joint venture between SKY Perfect JSAT and NTT, two of Japan's largest space and telecommunications companies, respectively. That partnership is squarely focused on meeting the data transport needs of the rapidly expanding earth observation market.

Prior to Skyloom, Marshall served as Vice President, Government & International Markets at Omnispace, where he successfully built and led their government and military-focused business, as well as played a key role in market expansion from the company's inception.
Before that, he was part of the investment team at Xerion Fund, a multi-billion-dollar hedge fund within Perella Weinberg Partners. Prior to that, Marshall spent over a decade as a national security professional with the U.S. government focusing on a range of pressing international security and economic issues.
