CHICAGO, July 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Slalom, the modern consulting firm focused on strategy, technology, and business transformation, today donated a large-scale, community-inspired, and Chicago-themed piece of art to its non-profit partner Lincoln Park Community Services (LPCS). The mural was hand-painted by local artist Jesse Hora and commissioned by Slalom to celebrate LPCS's expansion into an additional permanent facility in Old Town.
"Slalom has been a proud supporter of LPCS for over four years," said Dana Anderson, community engagement lead for Slalom Chicago. "The opportunity to contribute to this new facility in such a unique way has been exciting. We hope it puts a smile on people's faces every time they walk by it."
The mural was created live at a Slalom event earlier this year called REALIZE, a one-day experiential summit for Slalom clients, partners, and employees.
Prior to and during REALIZE, Slalom crowd-sourced inspiration on what "community" means to guests. Jesse Hora and Abby Wynne, both of MAKE & Co., integrated the responses into the art at the event. The finished mural is a map of Chicago, with descriptions like "teamwork" and "comfort" dotting the familiar landscape.
"This was a fun, creative project," said Hora. "Painting live at the event and drawing inspiration from the crowds brought a really cool energy to the final piece."
The art will hang in the new LPCS facility. This expansion will further advance LPCS's mission and provide 20 on-site subsidized permanent supportive housing apartments.
"At LPCS, we believe that homelessness requires a community response," said LPCS Executive Director Rodrigo Carillo. "The engaging custom artwork and our ongoing partnership with Slalom capture the spirit of Chicago's distinct communities and show how everyone can be part of the solution in meaningful ways."
