SLCC Spirit Band to Appear in '47 Parade
Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) July 23, 2013 -- The SLCC Summer Spirit Band to appear in the ‘Days of ‘47’ Parade
Salt Lake Community College Summer Spirit Band will be part of the line-up for the annual Days of ’47 Parade July 24, 2013. With more than 70 members, the SLCC Band, unlike rigid military style marching bands, just wants to have fun, playing fan favorites spanning many decades and genres.
To prepare for the festivities, the band marched around neighborhoods surrounding SLCC South City Campus, which they do each year to involve the community and practice as well. The occasional car only stops the impromptu concert as the band makes its way down the road.
“It has been a great year and the band sounds great. We love to entertain people and think people enjoy hearing us play and perform too,” said Director Craig Ferrin. “We thank the College and administrators for supporting us and helping to make this band happen every year.”
The SLCC Summer Spirit Band has had 10 parades and shows lined up for this summer, the biggest of which is the Days of ’47 parade where they will play to over one million people. The parade will launch at 9 a.m. at South Temple and State Street, head south down 200 East, and end at Liberty Park.
