Chisolm then heads to Honeywell in Arizona to see first-hand how companies are using SLM's 3D printers. The additives used in the printing process create parts that weigh less and take less time to produce. She has a chance to tour a test plane, which tests products ranging from engines to heat exchanges to flight control devices that were created with 3D printing technology. The products printed go through rigorous testing via flights around the world before they are delivered to customers. Because 3D printed parts weight significantly less than their metal counterparts, airlines are able to make room for more passengers and luggage.
