LOS ANGELES, Mar. 14, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Spend the weekend in the desert with SLVDR as they occupy one of legendary architect William Krisel's acclaimed Palm Springs homes. This classic, mid-century modern masterpiece, now known as "The Glass Cabin", became the location for the California based menswear brand's SS19 campaign. The collection embodies a spring mix of timeless design, premium materials and focused details. From premium pieces made on vintage Japanese looms to detail-focused tops, and well-considered bottoms, the SS19 line unites sophistication with versatility and classic California style.
The house was designed by legendary architect, William Krisel, and built in Palm Springs, California by Alexander Construction Company in 1958. The Glass Cabin, as it is now known, was part of Krisel's pioneering and affordable vacation tract housing project that took over the famed desert town in the late 1950's. The houses were designed to be affordable and alluring modernist getaways for the budget-conscious consumer who desired a vacation home. Krisel's post and beam structured homes were modest in material and size, but intricately designed with variations of orientation and roofline, open floor plans with high beamed ceilings that integrated both indoor and outdoor living, lots of light and improved air circulation with clerestory windows, sheltered patios, and pools. These tract houses helped double the size of Palm Springs in the late 1950's, and of the 2,500 homes Krisel designed, (all of which still stand) the Glass Cabin is the premier representation of a modern masterpiece.
