Small Business CEO, LaKeshia Grant-Shephard, Named Panelist at Essence® Festival Path to Power Entrepreneurship and Business Conference
Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 09, 2017 -- LaKeshia Grant-Shephard, CEO of Virtual Enterprise Architects (VEA), will be featured as a panelist at the Essence® Festival Path to Power Entrepreneurship and Business Conference, where attendees will learn how to create, grow, and sustain a business. Mrs. Grant-Shephard will speak on three panels on Friday, June 30, 2017 on Federal Contracting.
The three panels are a part of the “Doing Business with the Federal Government” series. The 101 session, “You Think You're Ready to do Business with the Feds," prepares an organization to be contract ready. The 201 session, “Stepping into the Federal Game,” focuses on marketing and how to obtain federal contracts. Lastly, the 301 session, “It's in the Bag: Landing that BIG Federal Contract,” will address navigating the federal market and government-wide acquisition contracts (GWACS).
Mrs. Grant-Shephard grew VEA from an $11,000 investment to a multi-million-dollar award-winning federal contracting company. She was the 2014 Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Small Business Person of the Year for Washington DC, a SmartCEO Brava! winner, and received the 2013 GovTek Woman in Industry Award. With over 17 years in government contracting, Mrs. Grant-Shephard is a select founder in the Kauffman Foundation and Khan Academy Entrepreneurship Series alongside Richard Branson, chairman of the Virgin Group; Lara Morgan, founder of Pacific Direct; Marc Ecko, founder of Ecko Unlimited; T.A. McCann, founder and CEO of Gist; and Zach Kaplan, CEO of Inventables.
In anticipation for the upcoming event, Mrs. Grant-Shephard stated:
“It is an honor to be a part of this historic event and have the opportunity to share my experiences in federal contracting as a mentor. I am passionate about helping other small businesses through my lessons learned over 17 years of federal contracting. I’m hoping that sharing VEA’s Federal Contracting Roadmap will inspire them to enhance their service offerings and elevate their businesses. I am grateful to the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) and Essence® for giving me this opportunity.”
