SEATTLE, WA (PRWEB) May 11, 2017 -- Quorum Review IRB, the first name in streamlined, service-centered independent ethics and regulatory review, is proud to announce that it has joined SMART IRB, a platform designed to simplify the IRB review process for multi-site studies.
The goal of SMART IRB is to ease burdens related to multi-site research and serve as a roadmap for institutions to execute the NIH Single IRB Review(sIRB) policy. With a flexible master IRB reliance agreement, standard operating procedures, as well as complementary tools and resources, the initiative helps optimize human subject research while maintaining strong protection for participants.
“For nearly two years we have been working with IRBrely–the initial project prior to SMART IRB,” says Cami Gearhart, CEO of Quorum. “We are honored to have contributed to this initiative in its early stage and we are impressed with the accomplishments of the platform, including having accrued nearly 200 participating institutions.”
Quorum is looking forward to collaborating with participating institutions in the SMART IRB network and sharing its 26 years of experience in providing IRB review services for multi-site trials. Board members offer extensive depth of knowledge necessary to provide reviews that are not only compliant, but adhere to the highest standards for quality. Quorum employs forms and standard operating procedures that already conform to SMART IRB requirements, which makes collaboration easier.
Quorum also offers as part of its standard review services a readymade electronic infrastructure (OnQ Portal) for collecting and disseminating the information and documentation essential for multi-site research. Furthermore, Quorum will not require additional reliance agreements or request any other exclusive arrangements from institutions that wish to utilize the SMART IRB platform to engage with Quorum.
“We are pleased to have Quorum join the SMART IRB community,” said Lee Nadler, Principal Investigator of Harvard Catalyst and a leader of SMART IRB. “We believe the participation of independent IRBs, universities, academic medical centers, and community hospitals in one master IRB reliance agreement will be integral to the success of the single IRB model on a national scale—ultimately accelerating the pace of discovery to improve human health while ensuring highest standards of patient safety and ethical conduct of research.”
