Smart Kids Hosts Conference for Parents of Children with LD and ADHD

NORWALK, Conn., Oct. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On November 2, 2019, Smart Kids with Learning Disabilities will host the 3rd Annual Fall Parenting Conference: Rising to the Challenge at Winston Preparatory School in Norwalk, CT. The conference will provide parents of children with learning disabilities (LD) and ADHD the opportunity to hear from experts on a wide range of topics that will help parents help their children succeed.

The keynote address, "LD/ADHD/Executive Skills – What's the Connection?" will be delivered by Peg Dawson, Ed.D., NCSP, renowned child psychologist and founder of The Center for Learning and Attention Disorders in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Dr. Dawson is the author of the best-selling "Smart but Scattered: The Revolutionary Executive Skills Approach to Helping Kids Reach Their Potential" and "Smart but Scattered Teens", in addition to several other books, articles, and book chapters. Dr. Dawson will also present a break-out session discussing "Self-Regulated Learners: Helping Kids Grow Their Own Executive Skills."

An additional ten break-out sessions will cover advocacy, educational evaluations, assistive technology, managing parent stress, non-verbal learning disabilities, understanding your teenager, and more. High school students with learning disabilities and ADHD will discuss their challenges to give parents an inside view of LD and ADHD as part of a youth panel.

Middle and high school students, ages 11-18, are invited to attend their own special track of sessions. Topics will include mindful movement, what is going on with your parents, in addition to offering an opportunity for young people with LD and ADHD to connect with one another in group discussions. Registration for youth attendees is only $15, and includes breakfast and lunch.
