Smart Pillow Device Designed to Regulate Temperature Launches on Kickstarter
Paris, France (PRWEB) September 13, 2017 -- Today Moona, part of the HAX accelerator, launched a Kickstarter campaign for a smart sleep system that channels the power of temperature to enhance rest with a cooling pillow pad, app, and bedside device. Early bird pricing for the crowdfunding campaign starts at $219 (retail value $399).
Moona’s patent-pending technology adapts head temperature to what the body needs throughout the night for the best rest possible. Research has shown that in order to fall asleep, body temperature needs to decrease. Keeping cooler temperatures steady helps people stay asleep and improves quality of sleep. When it’s time to wake up, a slight increase in body temperature triggers a natural wake up, making one feel ready to seize the day. By centralizing temperature regulation to the head and the neck, which account for one third of body thermal exchanges, Moona efficiently cools the entire body.
“Moona has been developed to reflect research on temperature and sleep to create a system that uses the power of cooler temperatures to help people get deep, restorative sleep,” said Co-Founder and CEO Coline Juin. “When we fall asleep, our bodies cool off. By controlling this and making it happen sooner, Moona successfully facilitates sleep.”
Moona’s temperature-regulating pillow pad is compatible with any pillow. It’s connected via a water circulation tube to the Moona Device, which sits on the bedside to cool and warm water. Sensors and machine learning prompt the device to circulate water to the pillow pad to control head and neck temperature. When it’s time to fall asleep the Moona pad cools down to about 26°C / 79°F. For deep sleep, it maintains a cooler temperature of around 25°C / 77°F. Finally, for a gentle, natural wake-up, the pad is heated with warm water of approximately 31.5°C / 89°F.
Moona also tracks light level, humidity and room temperature. An accompanying app tracks circadian rhythm and uses the data to enhance sleep cycles, adjusting to the user’s needs.
“We founded Moona motivated by a passion for producing smart devices, backed by research, that enhance health and wellbeing,” said Co-Founder and CTO David Stoikovitc. “Moona is a custom experience. Each user will have their own optimal temperatures to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up, based on everything from environment and temperature to sleeping pattern and personal preference.”
The Moona campaign runs from September 13, 2017 - October 27, 2017 with a delivery date of summer 2018. For a full rundown of the pledge levels, visit the Kickstarter page. Media wishing to interview their personnel should contact PR agent, Allison Aitken.
