New Video Introduction of Smart Tweezers ST-5S, a Handheld LCR-meter Designed for Surface Mount Technology
Waterloo, Ontario (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 -- Siborg Systems Inc.’s Smart Tweezers LCR-meters have been available for ten years and have gone through many evolutions. The newest model, the ST-5S, is a professional quality device that provides a simple solution to all issues with testing and troubleshooting Surface Mount Technology. Siborg has released a new introductory video for the device; demonstrating Smart Tweezers instantaneous evaluations and high accuracy, as well as an in depth look at the menus and features.
Smart Tweezers LCR-meter ST-5S Live Demonstration starts with a view of what comes with the device and shows the device in action measuring all types of components with accuracy and instantaneous results on the display. The video also goes through the device’s extensive menus.
Controlled by a joystick-like button, users can either quickly select certain settings by pressing the button directionally, or enter the menu by pressing the button. Within the menus, measurements can be customized more specifically for the task at hand. This includes setting measurement modes (auto, Inductance, Resistance, Capacitance, etc.) the value for the semi-automatic offset subtraction, changing the tolerance or test signal, selecting circuit model (parallel or series) for circuit continuity testing, as well as the devices settings such as changing the orientation of the screen for left-handed users.
Smart Tweezers are a fully automatic alternative to traditional bench type testers for testing Surface Mount Technology (SMT). SMT is the leading method for manufacturing electronics; this technology uses small components called Surface Mount Devices or SMDs. These components are mounted directly onto a Printed Circuit Board, unlike their predecessors that required wire leads to be threaded through holes. Not all SMDs have wire leads or labels due to their size constrictions, this can be a problem with evaluating components or keeping track of their values. Smart Tweezers provides an easy solution to testing these components; by grasping a component between the tweezers, ST will automatically determine the type of component, the best test signal frequency and range and measure accordingly for Inductance, Capacitance or Resistance as well as Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) values. Smart Tweezers then instantly provides the main impedance values, secondary values, component type, and test parameters used instantly on the built-in display.
The ST-5S offers a high basic accuracy of 0.2%, and multiple features including:
-Component sorting with 1, 5, 10, and 20% tolerances
-Continuity and diode testing
-Adjustable test signals
-Automatic best test range selection
-Semi-automatic offset subtraction
-Displays active and reactive impedance components
-Semi-automatic offset subtraction capabilities
-Li-Ion battery with micro-USB charging
-1 oz. weight with ergonomic design
-No set-up required between evaluations
-Evaluates all components to a 0201 size or 0.3 mm
For non-professionals looking for a Smart Tweezers device with a lower cost, Siborg also offers the LCR-Reader. This device offers the same experience as Smart Tweezers with a few less features and a slightly lower basic accuracy of 1% with a retail price under $200.
