ATLANTA, Sept. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SMC3 (http://www.smc3.com) continues its path of growth and innovation by appointing another industry leader to its Board of Directors: Darrel Harris, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Yellow Corporation, one of the leading transportation companies in the U.S. Now, Harris is bringing his exceptional talent and vision to the board of directors for SMC³.
Harris has multifaceted experience in the trucking industry, holding various leadership positions with increasing responsibilities in both operations and sales for more than two decades. Before being named President and COO of Yellow Corporation, Harris held senior leadership positions at Xpress Global Systems (XGSI), CRST International, and Vitran Logistics.
Harris also spent more than a decade with FedEx Freight, overseeing district operations and regional and inside sales. His transportation career began at American Freightways, where he started his career as a dock worker in Kansas City, KS.
"We are thrilled to have Darrel join our board of directors," said SMC³ President and CEO Andrew Slusher. "Beyond his extensive less-than-truckload expertise that will assist us in continuing to evolve our technology solutions, Darrel has a passion for talent development and creating strategies and plans that will deliver unrivaled technology solutions and educational events that move the industry forward."
Harris's leadership at Yellow Corporation lends itself to enterprise transformation strategy, collaborating across all areas of the business – from sales and operations to people and talent, and network optimization. With one of the largest, most comprehensive networks in North America and local, regional, national and international capabilities, Yellow transports 17 million shipments annually.
"I'm looking forward to collaborating with SMC³ and the board of directors on ways to propel transportation technology and education into the future," said Harris.
The SMC³ board of directors oversees finances and sets policies for the company, acting in the best interests of its members. The board offers SMC³ leadership guidance and insight into new supply-chain challenges and trends while also serving as ambassadors of the company at industry events.
