Softeq’s DURATEQ® ATV Enhances Multimedia Experience of Lelawi Theater Guests
Houston, TX (PRWEB) November 21, 2014 -- Softeq Development, a seasoned provider of embedded software development services, announced it has completed installation of its DURATEQ® Assistive Technology System at the Lelawi Theater of the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), Washington, D.C.
The Lelawi Theater is a 120-seat circular space that offers its guests an immersive multimedia experience while introducing the audience to the heritage and today’s diversity of Native American cultures of the Northern and Southern hemispheres. The tour starts with a 13-minute video presentation displayed across unique projection surfaces – a 40-foot, 360-degree dome, a faux rock installation, and four cloth screens replicating woven Native textile art. The video story is accompanied with the light and sound effects designed to highlight the American Indian artifacts displayed along the walls.
To enable a more engaging and up-to-date visitor experience for theater-goers with limited abilities, including foreign guests, the DURATEQ® installation team configured and deployed 24 Durateq units and five 5U docks in conjunction with a series of major multimedia system enhancements:
• Multi-language captioning: Provided in English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, and Japanese.
• Video-synced captions: Placing the DURATEQ® IR flood emitters inside the central video screen structure of the theater and aiming them at the domed ceiling supports video-synced caption triggering.
• Custom splash screen: Softeq’s team customized the ALiCE (Assistive Listening and Captioning Engine) splash screen to show an external view of the NMAI building.
• Device drop reminder: Thanks to a mini emitter installed outside the exit doors the DURATEQ® is triggered to display a message reminding users to return the devices to museum personnel before leaving the theater.
The DURATEQ® ATV device was designed and developed by Softeq as part of the proprietary Disney SyncLinkTM Technology to provide a highly immersive and interactive experience for people with hearing and visual disabilities. This makes the DURATEQ® the device of choice for the nation’s most popular public venues such as museums, parks, memorials, and other vaunted landmarks.
