LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 9, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SoundxRucker brings the area's first and only Dolby Atmos production suite and recording studio to Louisville, KY. Dolby Atmos systems build from traditional surround formats such as 5.1 or 7.1. Adding ceiling speakers makes this studio 7.1.4. The studio will allow artists and engineers to create music that is both multidimensional and immersive, creating an environment in which sounds move around the listener in any which direction.
For the past 15 years, Daniel 'Radio Rucker' has been ingrained in the local music scene in Louisville, Kentucky. After earning his degree in audio engineering and music production in 2007, he became the voice and longest running on-air talent for one of the largest radio stations in the city, 98.9 Radio Now (currently 98.9 KISS FM). Recently, he teamed up with Hatfield Media to bring the first and only Dolby Atmos Production Suite and recording studio to Kentucky. For those unfamiliar, Dolby Atmos takes the idea of surround sound to a whole new level to create an immersive experience that allows engineers like Rucker to place instruments and sound all around the listener.
"I'm thrilled that I can bring Dolby Atmos to Kentucky," says Rucker. "There's nothing like it in the area. Artists now have a place they can come to get a mix, or monitor their mixes in Atmos. I'm eager to bring immersive audio to new clientele. I think of myself as an artist — Dolby Atmos gives me an even larger canvas to paint audio pictures. Years from now when new audio engineers emerge they won't have the same limitations or mindset that current engineers have because they won't be as afraid to try new things. The term, 'there are no rules' has never been more true than it is right now, in my opinion. I'm looking forward to seeing where it's all going to go. Atmos is going to revolutionize music. It's here to stay." "In this region, being able to stand out is a special thing,'' says Clark Absher, Chief Business Development Officer at Hatfield Media. "You have the artists that really help to put Louisville and the state of Kentucky on the map from a music standpoint, but from an audio engineering standpoint, Rucker is going to take that to the next level. It's going to be really fun to see the audio rise in tandem with the music."
Taking nearly a year to complete, the SoundxRucker studio features state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos spatial audio technology that brings you an immersive audio experience. While the Avid MTRX Studio interface is the brains of the operation, the Genelec 7.1.4 speaker system is the crown jewel of the studio. "Atmos is going to revolutionize the industry," says Danny Fasold, Sales Consultant at Westlake Pro. "The reason why Atmos is a game changer is that unlike traditional surround formats, it will downmix it to whatever format you have, even basic stereo headphones. It approximates the spatial depth and movement that the mixer puts into the Atmos mix. From a technical point of view, that's why it's different this time. I think a lot of people over the next 10 years are going to discover Atmos in a really meaningful, but unexpected way. Eventually we're going to see artists that, from the very inception of song, are already thinking about Atmos and how to incorporate it as a songwriting tool, rather than just a mixing tool."
"I have known the team at Hatfield Media for a few years now. They handle the marketing for an artist I work closely with, B SIMM. Initially, I had them do a website while I was looking for a location for the studio. Over time, the relationship grew into what it is now" says Rucker. "Westlake Pro, Dolby, and Genelec were all super helpful in the process. I thought it was really cool that we didn't have someone random, we had THE guys from Genelec in their Atmos room, helping guide us through the decision making process. That meant a lot to us, because we felt like we were getting it directly from the source." "Everything that we make has the same type of mounting," says Paul Stewart, Sr. Technical Sales Manager at Genelec. "We can fit any sort of situation. There's a lot of consistency within our products with respect to the way they're designed and the way they mount. We always want our customers to understand what's going on in the room, what we're trying to fix. What's nice about working with Westlake is their dedication to actually getting to know the customer's process - it's incredibly helpful. We really enjoyed working with Danny. I know he and Rucker have good rapport and they were talking a lot outside of email threads and such. Danny was very knowledgeable and if he didn't have the answer right then, you knew he was going to get the answer. It was a very seamless process with them."
"We see immense possibilities for collaboration with Rucker," says Drake Hatfield, President and CEO of Hatfield Media. "When considering a partnership it is mission-critical that the relationship be mutually beneficial. Augmenting our full-service video production studio with a Dolby Atmos mixing environment will provide capabilities never offered within our region. Importantly, Daniel shares our values and seeks the highest standards within his craft. We look forward to the coming years and the opportunity to work together on advanced projects."
"In addition to Atmos, we wanted to create a one stop shop where you can build your entire brand. From recording your album to creating a logo, designing a website, and producing a music video, all under one roof," says Rucker. "It was a no-brainer to team up with Rucker," says Absher. "After hearing the vision Rucker had for opening a new studio, it made the most sense to not only have the capabilities to mix in Atmos, but to have a recording studio inside our media wing which features a full size green screen and cyc wall. To be able to have this in our building and to be able to lean on Rucker's expertise behind the board is going to bring a lot of new opportunity and scalability for clients, whether it's a commercial, music videos, or the mixing side of things. It just adds one more offering in our repertoire of a full-service marketing agency."
