South Gate Community Association Appoints RE/MAX Agent Adam Chicoine to Board of Directors
Florida Realtor Adam Chicoine, of RE/MAX Alliance Group, appointed treasurer of the South Gate Community Association board of directors.
SARASOTA, Fla., Oct. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- RE/MAX Alliance Group Realtor® Adam Chicoine was recently appointed treasurer to the board of directors of South Gate Community Association (SGCA). The South Gate Community Center, an historic, mid-century modern building on five acres, was designed by renowned architect Victor Lundy and built in 1956. It was the focus of the SGCA board in January 2018 at the annual members meeting. The board established a special volunteer Building Committee to study retaining, selling or leasing the community center and surrounding property.
The results of the most recent meeting were in favor of saving the building. Over the last several months, Chicoine and the other committee members have reviewed options, met with professionals and have been discussing the impact of each option.
"We are looking into creating a new taxing district for preserving historic buildings and grounds," noted Chicoine. "The county knows exactly which property would be involved and all the boundaries and are helping us look into to the possibility."
Currently, the SGCA board is waiting for the county staff to look over the process and potentially proceed with creating a new tax district. Chicoine said, "I would like to help save this building, because it an architectural significance and a worthwhile endeavor. The building needs a lot of work, but we already have a voluntary association in place, so that we won't have to collect a lot of money for the repairs."
