Southern California School Districts Enhance Security with the Raptor System
Los Angeles and San Diego (PRWEB) January 14, 2015 -- Two Southern California school districts are changing the way administrators manage who is entering school buildings. Chula Vista Elementary School District in Chula Vista, California and Val Verde Unified School District in Perris, California are enhancing on-site security measures with visitor management software produced by Raptor Technologies, the nation’s leading provider of visitor management technologies for K-12 schools.
By implementing the Raptor system, both Chula Vista and Val Verde can quickly screen visitors to their school buildings against a national database of registered sex offenders as well as a custom alert database that can contain custodial alerts for each school or district.
“The safety of our students and faculty is always a top priority for all our schools,” said Melissa Minas, Project Manager—Student, Family, and Community Services for the Chula Vista Elementary School District. “With Raptor Technologies, the district will be able know who is in our buildings at all times and screen visitors to ensure a safe environment for all.”
Chula Vista Elementary and Val Verde Unified School Districts are leading the way in Southern California but represent only 70 of the more than 12,000 schools that have implemented the Raptor system nationwide. Chula Vista selected Raptor as a means to provide a district-wide visitor management approach rather than having each school manage its own solution. Val Verde previously used pen and paper to monitor visitors and selected Raptor when administrators realized that visitor management software could enhance their existing safety program for school buildings.
“Visitor management systems are changing the way schools and districts manage the safety of their faculty and students,” noted Chris Wynn, Chief of Security for the Val Verde Unified School District. “Raptor Technologies allows us to be proactive in monitoring who is entering our schools in order to identify potential threats and keep our schools safe from unwanted visitors.”
Val Verde Unified School District and Chula Vista Elementary School District are home to 19,500 and 30,000 students, respectively.
