Southwest Diagnostic Imaging and Radiology Partners Form New Partnership in Arizona
Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) September 27, 2017 -- Arizona-based Southwest Diagnostic Imaging (SDI), a leading radiology practice in the southwestern United States, has announced a new partnership with Radiology Partners (RP), the largest and fastest growing physician-led radiology practice in the U.S. SDI currently has more than 120 radiologists serving 18 hospitals and 35 outpatient offices. This partnership represents around 25 percent new growth for RP raising it to a combined strength of over 525 radiologists serving over 400 sites in 10 states.
“For us to seriously consider a partnership with a larger organization, we had to be convinced it would advance our mission of providing high-quality and value-driven healthcare to our community,” said Dr. Rod Owen, Co-Executive Vice President of SDI. “Radiology Partners shares our commitment to these values and distinguished themselves from other potential partners with their single-specialty focus, investment in clinical innovation, emphasis on physician ownership with local governance, and an inspiring vision for the future of our field.”
SDI was founded in 2004 through the merger of two longstanding Phoenix-area practices: Scottsdale Medical Imaging and Valley Radiologists. In 2014, a third large practice, East Valley Diagnostic Imaging, joined. SDI has a tradition of delivering quality services to their patients, community, and medical professionals for more than 50 years.
“We are proud and excited that SDI has chosen to join our practice,” said Rich Whitney, Chairman and CEO of Radiology Partners. “They have a long history of providing outstanding inpatient and outpatient imaging services to communities throughout the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Not only is SDI a leading radiology practice in Arizona, they have also established themselves as a leader and an important benchmark for radiology practices nationally. SDI’s emphasis on clinical innovation, dedication to patient care, and their vision for the future of the field aligns closely with our own. The injection of their ideas and talent into Radiology Partners will advance our mission to transform radiology.”
“We understand the increasing importance of value-based healthcare reforms and feel that RP is the leader in this arena,” said Dr. James Lyons, Co-Executive Vice President of SDI. “We are excited to partner on these initiatives to bring added benefits to patients, referring physicians, and the hospital systems we serve."
“By joining with Radiology Partners, we’ll have access to additional capabilities and leadership development programs that will support our growth and allow us to help shape the field of radiology nationally for the benefit of the next generation of radiologists,” said Dr. Chris Dewald, Co-Executive Vice President of SDI.
The definitive agreement between Radiology Partners and SDI is subject to usual and customary closing conditions including Hart, Scott, Rodino anti-trust clearance and other regulatory approvals. SDI was advised by Coker Capital Advisors in this transaction.
