Spain HNWI Liquid Assets Reached USD 256 Bln in 2012, Says WealthInsight in Its Report Published at MarketPublishers.com
London, UK (PRWEB) January 22, 2014 -- As of 2012, real estate was considered to be the biggest asset class for Spain’s high net worth individuals (HNWI), accounting for around 22% of all assets held by local HNWIs. It was followed by business interests (17.5% share), equities (17.1% share) and fixed-income (16.7% share) asset classes. During 2008-2012, equities, fixed-income products and alternatives witnessed the highest growth rates, driven primarily by strong economic recovery in the US, as well as eurozone debt crisis. Liquid assets held by Spanish HNWIs climbed to a value of USD 256 billion in 2012, accounting for close to 26% of total wealth holdings.
The value of business interests declined from nearly 18% in 2008 to 17.5% of Spanish HNWI assets in 2012. After posting considerable growth between 2008 and 2012, alternative holdings are anticipated to fall substantially by 2017, owing to rising volatility and growing interest in some other asset classes. Meantime, real estate, which was deemed as an underperforming sector during 2008-2012, is expected to record positive growth in the upcoming years.
