Special Operations Focused Association to Hold 3rd European Symposium in Madrid
The Global Special Operations Forces (SOF) Foundation hosts an annual Symposium event in Europe to convene the SOF and defense community; the 2018 event will take place in Madrid, Spain at the end of September.
MADRID, Jul. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The third Global SOF Symposium - Europe will focus on the European, North African, and Latin American special operations communities and the shared issues they face. Madrid, Spain, is the ideal location for this event, with its proximity to North Africa and many cultural and historical ties to Latin America.
The Symposium is hosted by the Global Special Operations Forces (SOF) Foundation, the only professional association for the international SOF community. This non-profit organization has partnered with the Spanish Ministry of Defense to execute this three-day opportunity, which features high-level speakers, networking opportunities, and an expo space for industry participation.
On September 26-27, the Symposium agenda features influential confirmed speakers, to include the Spanish special operations commander, the EU's Chairman for the Military Committee, and the Commander of the NATO SOF Headquarters. Other speakers range from CNN's Peter Bergen, the Global SOF Foundation Chairman of the Board, to Jeff Newton, a Senior Producer at National Geographic. These speakers will address a variety of topics such as, "Illicit Networks Spanning Ibero-America, North Africa and Europe" and, "The Future of War and the Role of SOF."
The Global SOF Foundation is a networking organization; ample time is built into the schedule to allow attendees to discuss the presentations, make introductions, and peruse the Exhibit Hall. Networking events at this Symposium will bring many new faces together. On the 25th, the European Union and NATO SOF representatives will host a joint government-only meeting in the symposium spaces, which will lend to a high level of government attendance. Additionally, NATO Parliamentarians are scheduled to participate on the final day.
