Spenco Footwear Answers Plea for Shoes and Sandals in Haiti
WACO, Texas (PRWEB) October 13, 2016 -- The devastation Hurricane Matthew wrought on the island nation of Haiti this month took everything many of its already struggling people owned — right down to their shoes.
“Imagine facing the worst natural disaster your country has ever seen with lives lost, roads and homes torn apart, and disease spreading. Now imagine facing that disaster with bare feet,” said Pattie Graben, director of corporate development at Soles4Souls, a not-for-profit global social enterprise committed to fighting poverty through the collection and distribution of shoes and clothing.
The organization has issued a special call to action for the donation of shoes for hurricane victims in Haiti – a call that Spenco Footwear, a worldwide provider of shoes, sandals and slippers based in the U.S., was proud to answer.
The company shipped 1,000 pairs of new men’s and women’s sandals and shoes on October 12 to a Soles4Souls distribution center in Texas.
“When we see a tragedy causing suffering to the degree we’ve seen in Haiti, most of us wonder if there is anything we can do to help,” said Jeff Antonioli, vice president of sales and marketing for Spenco Footwear. “Hurricane victims need shoes, and if we can help 1,000 of those victims, we are happy to provide them some relief.”
Spenco has made other donations to the organization during past emergencies and disasters as well. To learn more about this program or to donate shoes and clothing, visit Soles4Souls.
